Your RMIT Google Drive is being decommissioned

You need to migrate any content you might have in your RMIT Google Drive before 31 May 2024.

What content do you have stored in your RMIT Google Drive? The University is in the final stages of switching from Google-related products to Microsoft 365 (Office 365), which includes the file storage services SharePoint and OneDrive. This means the RMIT Google Drive you were provided at the beginning of your studies will be decommissioned on 31 May 2024.

You need to migrate any content in your RMIT Google Drive before this date.

How to migrate your RMIIT Google Drive content

The good news is, migrating your content from your RMIT Google Drive is a fairly simple process. We’ve put together an eight-step guide for moving your files out of your RMIT Google Drive on our self-migration hub to help you with the process.

We highly suggest that you migrate any content that relates to your studies to your free RMIT SharePoint or OneDrive.

Accessing data after 31 May 2024

Getting access to any data in your RMIT Google drive after 31 May 2024 will be a more complicated process. Your content will be archived, and you will need to lodge an IT Connect support ticket to retrieve it.

Access Microsoft 365

Are you taking full advantage of your free access to Microsoft 365? Through your RMIT account you can get free access to software including Word, Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams.

To access the full Microsoft suite:

Go to Microsoft 365 and log in with your RMIT email address (your student number followed by @student.rmit.edu.au) and password.
In the top right corner, click Install Office.
Select Office 365 apps.
If prompted, click the Save File button, to allow the download.
The install file will download to your computer. Open the file and follow the instructions to install the applications on your computer. When you launch the new applications, log in with your RMIT email address and password.
