Staff from the College of Business at RMIT University attended a workshop recently to explore a new tool for social enterprise.
w1sd0m is an engagement platform that allows investors, entrepreneurs and advisors to coordinate their activities to address global challenges.
The workshop was led by Cameron Burgess, co-founder of w1sd0m.
Mr Burgess is a serial social entrepreneur, a respected commercialisation advisor to social and environmental ventures and an active deal-screener for venture-fairs and impact investors.
For the past three years, he and his team have been developing a software solution that will more effectively measure and facilitate the flow of human, social, intellectual and financial capital between ventures, advisors, investors and networks that are working for the common good.
The aim of the workshop was to explore opportunities for the co-creation and adoption of a cohesive digital toolset that can be used for mapping the Australian social enterprise landscape and binding it into a global context.
Tim Butcher, Deputy Head Industry Engagement, School of Management said: “This session provided a solid framework for understanding the intersection between financial capital, social capital and social enterprise.
“It also allowed academic staff to identify opportunities for ongoing research and development in the dynamic and evolving social and environmental enterprise sector.”
The event was hosted by the School of Management in conjunction with RMIT SEEDS (Social and Environmental Enterprise Developments) and the Centre for Sustainable Organisations and Work.
