International opportunities

Go global with your studies

You have just taken the first step towards an international opportunity that could change your life.

Incorporating an international experience into your RMIT studies gives your education the competitive edge needed in today's global knowledge economy.

The study tour to the USA was a career-defining event for me. The academic and personal challenge of studying overseas, focusing on building my leadership and communication skills placed me at a great advantage when the opportunity arose to move into a management role.

Seonaid Porter, Master of Business Information Technology

In most cases, you do not have to speak a foreign language and the benefits of studying overseas include: enhancing job opportunities and professional networks; developing interpersonal skills by living and studying in another culture; experiencing different teaching styles and ways of learning; and gaining an international perspective on your studies and professional knowledge.

You can gain credit points towards your degree by doing:

  • a two or three-week study tour
  • a one week study intensive
  • a semester/year long exchange
  • an international work placement
  • student-led social entrepreneurship projects

This site is filled with information which will put you one step closer to packing your suitcases and beginning a very exciting learning adventure.

Study tours and intensives

International study tours are a unique opportunity for you to combine an overseas travel and cultural experience, with studies focusing on various aspects of a region or area of study.

Student exchange

Student exchange allows you to study overseas for the equivalent of one semester or up to one year. As long as you are enrolled as a full-time student, you are eligible to study in another country while only paying your usual RMIT fees. On completion, the study undertaken can be credited towards your RMIT program.
