Blackboard - a how to and your say

In a previous Educators Corner, we mentioned that the new Learning Hub and Blackboard were ready for the start of the semester. We hope that you have had time to login and familiarise yourself with the changes.

In this edition of Educators Corner, we wanted to give you some information about Blackboard Announcements and Assessment.

Assessment

In Blackboard 6 only multiple choice and true/false type questions could be downloaded. This feature has been expanded to include all question types. Instructors can download a csv file containing a row for each student (Username, Lastname, Firstname) who has taken the test, and columns for each question number, question text, answer, and score (possible points, auto score, manual score). Instructors can access this feature by clicking on the gradebook item name (at the top of the column for the item in the gradebook), then the link 'Download Results'.

For further details on changes to assessment you can visit the learning hub website

Announcements

The Announcement page is the first thing a student sees in Blackboard. It is important to have a brief welcome message to greet them. If you would like to know more about how to post an announcement in Blackboard, you can view a short video (Quicktime streaming movie 1:59) and read a "how to guide".
