RMIT University recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to become a Foundation Member of the Alliance for Supply Chain Innovation (ASCI).
ASCI has brought together institutions such as RMIT, Bond University, Monash University and University of South Australia and organisations such as The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Australia (CILTA), GS1 Australia and CSIRO as part of its effort to undertake cutting-edge supply chain research.
RMIT University is being represented by Professor Brian Corbitt, Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor, Business Research, and Associate Professor Prem Chhetri, School of Business IT and Logistics.
“Being part of this alliance will enable us to further develop industry supported research opportunities for innovation in logistics and supply chain management,” Professor Brian Corbitt said.
ASCI was recently launched at the CILTA International Convention in Sydney. Its vision is to facilitate, coordinate and support collaborative user-driven research in supply chain innovation.
“ASCI has the potential to influence the national supply chain agenda and build research capacity to produce innovations that improve efficiency, productivity and sustainability of supply chain and logistics operations in Australia,” Associate Professor Chhetri said.
RMIT is already benefitting from the alliance through a recent research contract with the Port Kembla Port Corporation.
