2009 Design Challenge finalists announced

Finalists announced for the "2009 Design Challenge: Fire".

Following the 2009 Design Challenge Pitch in July, the Design Research Institute is pleased to announce the results of the first stage of the 2009 Design Challenge: Fire.

Finalists will be asked to further develop their proposals for presentation and exhibition in November, when the winning team will receive the RMIT Design Research Institute Challenge Award, a grant contribution to the value of $25,000 toward research and development of the proposal in 2010.

Congratulations to the following short-listed teams for their stand-out proposals.

burnMap

Associate Professor Colin Arrowsmith, Professor William Cartwright, Monique Elsley, Greg McCarthy, Chris Marmo, Adrian Miles, Brian Morris, Associate Professor Laurene Vaughan, Jim Whelan and Jeremy Yuille.

Bushbunker

Jonathon Casey, Robert Cross, John Hudson and Justin Marden.

Communication and Community Shelter Networks

Luke Adams, Travis Dean, Jacqueline Edge, Rory Fort, Stuart Harrison and Matt Tonner.

Fire Up

Dr Lisa Dethridge, Kay Hawkins, Sarah Hickmott, Brian Quinn and Tim O’Loan.

Polytactics

Firoz Alam, Jordi Beneyto-Ferre, Nigel Bertram, Laura Harper, Professor David Mainwaring, Professor Robert Shanks, Victoria Smith and Associate Professor SueAnne Ware.

Solar-powered Unmanned Aerial Vehicle
